Do you still think of Shell as an oil company? In fact we are a global group of energy and petrochemicals companies, operating in over 140 countries and territories and employing approximately 109,000 people.
Shell has been a leading operator since the earliest days of the UK oil and gas industry.
Currently we produce around a quarter of Britain\'s oil and gas, enough to supply over one third of UK domestic gas customers. We provide direct employment for around 2500 people offshore and onshore, and indirect employment for 40,000.
In the UK we have interests in around 75 offshore fields, comprised of approx 50 oil and 25 gases. We operate 2 Gas Plants (at St Fergus near Peterhead and at Bacton in Norfolk), a Natural Gas Liquid (NGL) Fractionation Plant (Mossmorran in Fife) and the Braefoot Bay Marine Terminal on the Firth of Forth.
Shell worldwide recruits several hundred graduates each year. The majority of opportunities - particularly in Scotland - are for those with a technical background, such as Engineering, Maths, Physics etc. However, we also offer opportunities for non-technical degrees in areas such as Human Resources, Finance, Procurement and Business Analysis. There are more details available at www.shell.com/careers.
There are also routes into the Industry for non-graduates, eg via the Cogent training scheme for technicians.
