For many people knowing where to start is the first challenge.
You may or may not be aware but before you are allowed to work on an oil installation based in the European North Sea, you must complete a basic survival course. For the UK sector this is a three day course – BOSIET (Basic Offshore Survival Induction and Emergency Training). The course gives you practical information on what to expect when you visit an Offshore Installation, the legislation and practical survival skills. Some of the skills taught include basic sea survival skills – including helicopter underwater escape training, elementary first aid, and basic fire fighting skills. The training can be challenging but it provides important information to best equip you when travelling to and from an offshore installation.
